I was 8 or 9 when I bought my first record, and I haven't stopped yet (although it's been mostly CDs since the mid-90s). I can't remember if it was The Beatles' Reel Music or AC/DC's Dirty Deeds Done Dirt Cheap, but I still have 'em both, for what it's worth.
My tastes these days are eclectic (I have branched out a bit beyond The Beatles and AC/DC), with a strong emphasis on energetic, high-intensity, aggressive, experimental rock and jazz -- think Van der Graaf Generator, King Crimson, John Coltrane, Rush, Magma, Naked City, and the like. Honorable mention goes to folk and folk/pop groups like The Tannahill Weavers and Great Big Sea and lush, symphonic progressive rock bands like Renaissance and pre-1977 Genesis. Lately I have been enjoying the wonders of modern electronic music -- after all, how else to describe Moby or Chemical Brothers than "energetic, high-intensity, and aggressive"?
Some years back, I wrote up a concert diary so that, when I am a doddering old man, I can remember the highlights of my youth. Like all web pages, I have miserably failed to keep it up-to-date.
